Sr. Electrical Engineer

AKAT Corp is looking for a highly qualified electrical engineer for NASA projects who will be responsible for the design and development of advanced flight electronics, and their associated ground support systems designs. Specific requirements include:

  • BS degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineer with at least 10 years relevant experience required.
  • Experience and knowledge of space-flight hardware.
  • Extensive low noise analog design experience, OpAmp, ADC, DAC, etc.
  • Experience with WCA (Worst Case Analysis)
  • Experience in board level and box level tests.
  • Experience in box-level and system level environmental testing.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of contractors and Government employees, and possess strong organizational skills.

    Test Engineer

    AK Aerospace Technology Corp. is seeking a highly motivated Electronics Test Engineer to support the NASA/GSFC programs. Specific duties for this position include the following:

    Job Description:

    • Support development, integration, testing, verification and operations of spaceflight, airborne and ground system hardware.
    • Design and development of the Ground Support Equipment for Avionics and Spacecraft.
    • Support integration and test of flight hardware
    • Develop test scripts, interface HW/SW, collect test data
    • Develop test procedures and requirements verification plan

    Required Qualifications:

    • BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field with 5-10 years relevant experience in related field and skills and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience in troubleshooting analog and digital circuits
    • Experience with benchtop equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators and power supplies
    • Experience developing ground test systems for flight avionics
    • Experience in the integration and test of flight hardware from development through delivery
    • Some experience writing ASIST test scripts, developing an ASIST database, and developing ASIST pages.

    Sr. Systems Engineer

    AK Aerospace Technology Corp. is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to participate in Instrument integration, test and science data verification for a mission at the NASA/GSFC, Greenbelt MD location. Specific duties for this position include the following:

    Provide Mission and Instrument systems engineering support including environmental test support and test plan developments across multiple subsystems. Including requirement and resource allocation verifications. Perform investigation, troubleshooting and analysis in support of engineering and flight instruments and spacecraft subsystems.

    Job Description:

    • Participate and lead in instrument environmental tests (EMI/EMC, thermal vacuum, and vibration).
    • Technical oversight and leadership of the optical module (OM) which includes Optics, Opto-Mech, Mechanism subsystems, and spacecraft interfaces.
    • Work with the instrument scientists and subsystems leads in verifying the performance/interface requirements and allocation compliance.
    • Oversight of technical allocation and resource tracking (mass, power, pointing)
    • System level limited and comprehensive test planning and execution
    • Perform analysis/test of such systems as optical camera system, command and data handling, thermal control, power and mechanism control system.
    • Review and analysis of instrument/subsystem performance test data as applied to level 2 and level 3 requirements.
    • Support/lead instrument/subsystem requirement verification and validation (V and V).
    • Perform instrument electrical/grounding analysis and develop the applicable documentations.
    • Support investigation of instrument/subsystem anomalies during system level integration and test, and work with other team members to resolve/disposition anomalies.
    • Environmental test matrix management.
    • Revise requirements, analysis, specifications, interface control documents (ICD), test plans as required.

    Required Qualifications:

    • BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field with 5-10 years relevant experience in related field and skills and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Strong background in spacecraft/instrument electrical, analog/digital, power, and ground.
    • Knowledge of spacecraft/instrument level EMI/EMC, vibration, and thermal vacuum testing.
    • Experience in instrument camera systems with CCD or IR detectors is a plus.
    • Familiarity with NASA systems development, configuration management, and quality control processes and procedures.
    • Experience in generating requirements, writing specifications, creating test plans.
    • Preparing and presenting material for multi-disciplined design reviews.
    • Experience with NASA Risk Management guidelines and processes.
    • NASA or Aerospace industry experience is a plus.

    Systems Engineer

    AK Aerospace Technology Corp. is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to participate in development of high profile, fast paced missions at the NASA/GSFC. Specific duties for this position include the following:

    The candidate will provide Mission and Instrument Systems Engineering support including developing operations concepts, requirements and system architectures, and support requirements management and allocation. In addition, perform engineering studies, and analyses in support of flight instruments and spacecraft subsystems from concept thru development, and I&T phase.

    Job Description:

    • Working with various spacecraft subsystems including instruments, command and data handling, thermal control, power conversion and distribution, and mechanism control
    • Refine the electrical system and grounding architecture consistent with spacecraft requirements
    • Work with leads to ensure that designs meet all program requirements and that all interfaces are consistent across the subsystem
    • Generate requirements, specifications, ICDs, analyses, and test plans, review documentation, attend reviews, resolve issues, and report results to the customer
    • Perform EMI/EMC analysis and develop the necessary documentation
    • Support troubleshooting of test anomalies during system level integration and test, and work on anomaly resolution with other team members

    Required Qualifications:

    • BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field with 5-10 years relevant experience in related field and skills and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Strong background in satellite systems including familiarity with power and grounding architectures, digital interfaces

    Electronics Designer

    AKAT Corp is looking for a highly qualified electronics designer for NASA projects who will be responsible for the design and development of advanced aerospace instruments, and their associated flight and ground support systems designs. Specific requirements include:

    • Experience and knowledge of space-flight instruments
    • Experience with Digital design (including FPGA design)
    • Experience with Analog Design (critical areas such as Analog to Digital Converters (including performance assessments and signal-to-noise assessments)
    • Experience with PWB design and layout optimization
    • Experience creating board level and box level test procedures
    • Experience with box-level and system level environmental testing (e.g. CE/CS testing, vibration testing, and thermal (vacuum and chamber) testing)
    • Experience with EMI/EMC effects, including knowledge of grounding techniques and harness design and test

    FPGA designer

    AKAT Corp is looking for a highly qualified FPGA designer to perform HDL design, development, and testing of on-board science data processing FPGA Cores for NASA projects. Experience Requirements:

    • In-depth knowledge of HDL development and testing, implementing algorithms in HDL, HDL simulation, timing analysis tools, synthesis tools, place and route tools, back-annotated timing analysis, in the lab testing of FPGA designs
    • Experience working with embedded systems and developing FPGA cores that interface to embedded processors
    • Experience developing FPGA designs for Flight hardware
    • Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA and Microsemi tools and Multi-Gigabit transceivers

    Projects Manager

    AKAT Corp is seeking a highly qualified Projects Manager with a track record to handle the business side of various AKAT contacts with NASA/GSFC and run day-to-day business side of the corporation. Our contracts are tasked related and require providing a broad range of engineering and related services to NASA. Specific requirements include:

    • Customer communication in establishing their requirements and taking the appropriate steps to address their requirements
    • Interface regularly with government personnel on matters such as task order status, performance, concerns, issues that need to be addressed, and potential future task order requirements
    • Pursue contract growth of new and existing tasks, and support business development activities
    • Point of contact for programmatic information on various contracts
    • Generate task plans and CTRs for various contracts
    • Generate various contract related and task related monthly reports

    Electronics Engineer

    AKAT Corp is seeking a highly motivated Electronics Engineer to support the NASA/GSFC programs. Specific requirements include:

    • Performing engineering studies, design, and analyses in support of flight instruments from concept thru development, and I&T phase.
    • Supporting the design and development of analog and digital electronic circuits in the areas of IR detector readout and data processing.
    • Supporting generation of design schematics, circuit simulation, FPGA design, and PCB design.
    • Support PC board fabrication, assembly, and test.
    • Work with multidiscipline group of engineers during the systems design and development, integration, testing, and delivery.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with some NASA related experience.
  • Background in the development of aerospace hardware is preferred.
  • Experience with Digital design (including FPGA design)
  • Experience with Analog Design (critical areas such as Analog to Digital Converters, low noise preamp)
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, be very adaptable to change and have excellent oral and written communication skills

    Test Coductor

    AKAT Corp is looking for a highly qualified Test Conductor. Specific requirements include:

    • WFIRST Test Conductor Support
    • 1.1 The contractor shall work with the WFIRST WFI Instrument teams to develop ASIST products, such as procs, pages or related items, used in the development of the WFIRTS subsystem and WFI.
    • 1.2 The contractor shall provide test conductor personnel with the following experience:
    • i. Experience writing ASIST test scripts, developing an ASIST database, and developing ASIST pages.
    • ii. Experience working in a flight hardware development lab.
    • iii. Experience testing flight hardware.
    • iv. Experience in the integration and test environment from development through delivery.
    • 1.3 The contactor shall provide engineering support for ground system design of the WFIRST I&T ground system.
    • 1.4 The contactor shall provide engineering personnel with the following experience.
    • i. Experience developing ground test systems for flight avionics.
    • ii. Experience with integration and test of flight avionics.
    • iii. Experience working in an avionics development environment.
